Editorial Policy

How we source, verify, and publish IPO data — and what to do when something is wrong.

Last updated: 13 August 2026

1. Editorial standards

IPO Champion is an independent financial data aggregator. Our goal is to present accurate, timely, and unbiased information about Indian IPOs to help retail investors make informed decisions. We do not provide investment advice, and nothing on this site should be construed as a recommendation to buy or sell any security.

All content is reviewed before publication. Where data conflicts between sources, we apply a defined precedence order (see Data methodology) and flag uncertainty rather than guess.

We do not accept payment to alter, suppress, or promote any IPO listing. Affiliate links to brokers (Zerodha, Angel One, Kotak Neo) are clearly disclosed and do not influence data presentation.

2. Data sources

SourceData providedTrust level
Manual editorial overrideAny field — applied when automated sources are incorrect or incompleteHighest
Upstox API (v2/ipos)Open/close dates, price band, lot size, issue size, listing date, total subscriptionHigh
Google Sheets pipelineGMP, subscription breakdown (QIB/NII/Retail), allotment date, registrar, statusHigh

We aggregate data from the following sources, in descending order of trust.

NSE and third-party scrapers are permanently disabled. Data from those sources is no longer used.

3. Data methodology

Each IPO record carries a manually_overridden_fields list. Any field in that list is locked — automated syncs (Upstox, Sheets) will not overwrite it. This prevents a stale API response from reverting a correction we have already applied.

GMP is sourced from the Sheets pipeline and reflects informal grey-market trading prices. GMP is not an official figure — it is not published by SEBI, NSE, or BSE. It represents community-reported estimates and can be highly volatile.

Category-wise subscription (QIB, NII, Retail) comes from the Sheets pipeline. Total subscription (sub_total) is sourced from the Upstox API and stored in the format 2.81x.

Open/close dates and listing dates are sourced from Upstox and cross-checked against the Sheets pipeline. IPO status is derived from these dates relative to the current date and is recalculated on every page load.

Price band and lot size are sourced from the Upstox API, as published by the company in its DRHP/RHP filed with SEBI.

4. Update frequency

Upstox API sync

Every 30 minutes, automatically. Covers open/upcoming IPOs.

Sheets pipeline sync

Every 30 minutes, automatically. Covers GMP, subscription, allotment.

Manual overrides

Applied by the editorial team as needed, typically within a few hours of a discrepancy being identified.

Freshness indicator

A colour-coded status bar on the homepage shows the age of each pipeline's last successful run.

5. Known limitations

  • GMP figures are community-sourced estimates, not official exchange data.
  • Category-wise subscription (QIB/NII/Retail) is not available from the Upstox API; it is sourced from the Sheets pipeline only.
  • Allotment status (whether a specific applicant received shares) is not available on this site — we link to registrar portals for individual lookups.
  • Historical IPO data (pre-2021) may be incomplete.
  • SME IPO data coverage may lag mainline IPOs by several hours.
  • Listing price and listing day gain/loss are updated post-listing and may not be available immediately at market open.

6. Corrections policy

We are committed to correcting factual errors promptly. If you believe any data on IPO Champion is incorrect, please contact us at [email protected] with: the IPO name and specific field, the value currently shown, and the correct value with a source (e.g. SEBI filing, exchange notice, registrar website).

We aim to review correction requests within 24 hours on business days. Confirmed errors are corrected immediately and the affected record is locked via the override protection mechanism.

We do not issue formal correction notices for minor data updates (e.g. GMP changing intraday). Correction notices are issued only for material factual errors that were published and visible to users for more than one hour.

7. Editorial independence

IPO Champion is independently operated. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any IPO issuer, lead manager, registrar, or broker.

Affiliate relationships with brokers (Zerodha, Angel One, Kotak Neo) are limited to referral links. These relationships do not influence which IPOs we cover, how we present data, or our editorial assessments.

We do not accept sponsored content, paid placements, or payment to feature or suppress any IPO listing.
